Printable baseball and softball lineup cards
Fillable dugout cards, umpire exchange copies and an inning-by-inning position grid for youth coaches, in letter and 4 x 6 sizes.
Every youth game starts the same way: the plate umpire asks for lineups, and somebody is scribbling on the back of a schedule. This pack gives you clean, fillable cards for the whole routine — the card you keep in the dugout, the copies you hand to the umpire and the other coach, and a grid that plans who plays where in every inning.
The cards are built for how youth games actually run: continuous batting orders where the whole roster bats, positions that change every inning, a bench column so nobody sits twice before everyone sits once, and 10-fielder or DP/FLEX lineups for softball.

Position codes used on every card
Scorekeepers and umpires use the same numbering, so a card filled with these codes reads the same in both dugouts.
| No. | Code | Position |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | P | Pitcher |
| 2 | C | Catcher |
| 3 | 1B | First base |
| 4 | 2B | Second base |
| 5 | 3B | Third base |
| 6 | SS | Shortstop |
| 7 | LF | Left field |
| 8 | CF | Center field |
| 9 | RF | Right field |
| – | LC / RC | Left-center / right-center (10-fielder formats) |
| – | X or B | Bench for that inning |
Three habits that make lineup day painless
- Write the defense first, then the batting order. Planning positions inning by inning on the position chart shows you bench time at a glance. The batting order is quick once that is settled.
- Check each inning column, not just each row. Read down every inning and confirm each position appears exactly once. A missing catcher in the fourth is easy to miss when you only read across.
- Hand over identical copies. The umpire, the opposing coach and your scorekeeper should all hold the same order. The pack's umpire sheet fills both copies from one set of typing. See how to fill out a lineup card for the details umpires look for.

Questions
Do I need special software?
No. Any PDF reader that supports form fields works, including the readers built into most browsers and phones. You can also print the pages blank and write by hand.
Will it work for softball?
Yes. The cards have room for 10 or more batters, a position column that accepts DP, FLEX, EH or LC/RC, and the continuous version holds up to 20 batters. See the softball page for how to list those spots.
Can I print index cards at home?
Most home printers have a manual feed that takes 4 x 6 card stock. Choose 4 x 6 paper in the print dialog and print at actual size.
Can I share it with my assistant coaches?
Yes, share it within your team. Please don't post the files publicly or resell them.
What if it isn't what I needed?
Refund terms are linked at the bottom of every page. The free card and position helper on this site are yours to use either way.
